Temperament Assessment
First things first. To ensure a safe, fun environment for all of our pups that join us for daycare or boarding, they must first schedule and pass a free, four-hour temperament assessment. Follow the steps below to get started!
How do I schedule my dog's temperament assessment?
What you will need:
- Dog info: Name, Age, and bonus points for a cute pic!
- Vaccination records: Bordetella, Rabies, DAP/DHPP, Lepto.
**If you are unable to upload these, please email them to: caninecare@dogsocietysd.com**
- Veterinarian info
- Owner contact info
- Emergency contact info
- Phone: 619-780-0235
- Email: caninecare@dogsocietysd.com
- On your scheduled day, please drop off your pup at our downstairs canine care reception. This is at the orange door, located down the driveway, on the left-hand side.
What happens during a temperament assessment?
- Pack Leader Handling: This period allows us to see if your dog is comfortable with staff touch them, taking on and off a leash, and move from one location to another.
- Solo kennel time: This helps us better understand if your dog would be comfortable boarding with us. It also allows them time to acclimate to their new surroundings.
- One on one play: Your dog will be introduced to another 'resident' dog, first on-leash and then off, to get a better understanding of their temperament.
- One on two play
- One on three play.
- Pack Play. The final stage is pack play! At this point your pup will be introduced to the full pack. Under our supervsion we will be monitoring their play and recall skills to ensure they are a good fit for the pack.
